Top 10 Comedy Zombie movies

Updated: May 23, 2022

Want a laugh but still need your zombie fix? Then look no further.

The idea of everybody turning into brain eating monsters is a scary thought, but these films will leave you shaking with laughter, not terror.

So, sit back, relax, and lets bite into this list.

1. Shaun of the Dead

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are the stars of this classic British comedy. The first part of the Cornetto Trilogy directed by Edgar Wright explores how the characters of Shaun, an electronics salesman, and Ed, his unemployed roommate, deal with the oncoming zombie apocalypse, all while furthering their agenda and waiting for it to all blow over.

It will forever live on as one of our favourites, and ultimately a major part of British culture. Trip to the Winchester anyone?

2. ZombieLand

In a Zombie ridden world, Columbus (Jesse Eisenburg) awkwardly lives his life by 33 rules including 'beware of bathrooms', 'limber up', and 'don't be a hero'. Along with Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), a bruiser trying to find the last existing Twinkie, and two sisters (Emma Stone & Abigail Breslin) who are searching for an amusement park, he finds himself in an unlikely friendship as they attempt to stay alive.

If that doesn't sway you, it also stars Bill Murray trying to be a Zombie.

3. Warm Bodies

Zombie movie meets soppy Rom-Com. Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer and Dave Franco star in this unique comedy exploring the idea of humans falling in love with the Undead. R is a unique Zombie after all. Whilst showing the terrifying demise of the undead becoming 'Boneys', it also explores what it means to be human through R's and Julie's growing relationship.

Maybe in this universe zombies aren't as deadly as they seem.

4. ZombieLand: Double Tap

The sequel we all waited 10 years for.

Following the group from the first movie, we are transported five years into the future where Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita and Little Rock have taken shelter in what is left of the White House. Along their journey to Graceland, they encounter a new kind of zombie and must work together once again to try and survive.

Make sure to double tap!

5. Office Uprising

Have you ever wondered what would happen if a whole office of people drank a new energy drink that turned people into 'Zombies'? Desmond (Brenton Thwaites) and Samantha (Jane Levy) find out when their colleagues ingest 'Zolt' and turn into destructive, aggressive, superhumans.

While it isn't your typical zombie comedy, it definitely serves great slapstick comedy throughout.

6. Army of the Dead

Scott Ward (Dave Bautista) and his crew travel into a dangerous quarantine zone that has been overrun with the infected. Their aim: Carry out a $200 million dollar heist in Las Vegas.

Sounds tricky. But with the added obstacle of the undead, will they be able to pull it off?

Bridgeton meets Zombies. Jane Austin's classic tale of romance takes a dramatic turn.

Based on Seth Grahame-Smith's novel, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (A parody of Austins work), this movie follows the Bennet sisters who are all trying to find good, wealthy men to marry.

However, when hoards of zombies infiltrate dances trying to eat people, it makes it quite difficult to find a date.

8. Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse

Another teenage camp killing movie? I think not.

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse takes another look on the summer camp horror trope by adding in the Undead. Ben, Carter and Augie must use their scout skills and knowledge to help save the town from impending brain eating doom.

9. Zombeavers

'Zombeavers' 2014

A fun weekend away at a lake house with your college friends? I don't think so.

This 2014 comedy horror directed by Jordan Rubin follows a young group looking for some time away from society and technology. But when you get bitten by an infected Zombie beaver, your vacation is going to be far from relaxing.

I wouldn't dip your feet in the water if I were you.....

10. Paranorman

This dark stop motion zombie horror is one of a kind. Laika Studios produced this masterpiece back in 2012, with it being the first stop-motion movie to use a 3D printer to create character faces.

Norman can talk to the dead, although no one ever believes him.

When the town of Blithe Hollow is infiltrated by a group of Zombies brought back to life by the Witches curse, Mr Prendeghast, Normans uncle, warns that Norman is the only one who can stop it.
